Senior Automotive Technician
Location:Rockville MD
FT/PT Status:Full Time
  
Job Description:
  • Completes inspections and performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all vehicles and equipment assigned to the vehicle maintenance shop
  • Checks condition of equipment; determines causes of malfunctions; and performs repairs required
  • Completes preventive maintenance by inspecting, servicing, and correcting discrepancies according to maintenance policies, directives, and advisories
  • Performs more complex repairs
  • Inspects, removes, and replaces components such as engines, fuel, air, electrical, and cooling systems
  • Performs repairs and servicing of equipment components
  • Completes work order documents, noting time, parts, and supplies used
  • Verifies working order of equipment after servicing is complete
  • Assists lower-level technicians with diagnosis and technical issues
  • Adheres to all safety procedures
  • Follows verbal and written instructions; meets schedule and attendance requirements; performs all physical requirements of position
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with managers, coworkers, and customers

 

Job Qualifications:
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a minimum of four years’ experience as a journey-level mechanic
  • Minimum 1 ASE Automotive Technician certification required at hire or must obtain one certification within 90 days of hire; a minimum of 4 ASE certifications must be obtained within the first year of employment
  • Working knowledge of all types of motor vehicles to be able to diagnose and repair equipment
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of position
  • Basic computer skills required; Knowledge of fleet management system preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complete operational checks
  • Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of engine assemblies, clutch assemblies, brakes, drive trains, transmissions, and electrical system
  • Must be certified in air conditioning
  • Outstanding technical knowledge, excellent people skills and focus on superior customer service
  • Additional training for Hazardous Waste Accumulation, Pollution Prevention and other training related to the position may be required
  • Team player; ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English for a working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings, as per contract requirement
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited technical school, apprentice program, or verified military schooling program teaching the mechanic trade preferred
  • Use and care of required tools and equipment
  • Must provide own tools and rollaway box

  • Adherence to contract requirements, safety and health regulations, and company policies

Work Conditions:

  • In-person attendance on a set and predictable schedule
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
  • May perform work both indoors and outdoors as needed
  • May be periodically exposed to inclement weather conditions or other work conditions by nature

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel and squat to perform repairs and inspections
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to work with small fasteners or components
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
Addtional Job Information (if applicable):
Hourly rate, not flat rate
Incentive pay for each ASE up to maximum of 8 within automotive track
Incentive pay for L-1

Two shifts: 6:00 am - 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm - Midnight
