RF System Design Engineer

Job Description:

Since 1976, Professional Communication Systems, LLC has been proudly serving Public Safety, First Responders, Healthcare and Business partners. We provide excellent service, and emergency response to our partner agencies on a 24-7 basis to ensure their systems and equipment operate at optimal efficiency. Due to tremendous business growth, we are seeking an RF System Design Engineer to join our team.

Our RF System Design Engineers plan, develop, design, create, build, install, maintain and test solutions for our partner agencies and businesses.

This is a role in which you will:

  • Design, develop, install and maintain functional JVC KENWOOD RF systems and TELEX dispatch console systems among others
  • Perform diagnostics on production assemblies
  • Design and perform testability reviews
  • Write test procedures
  • Interface with customer technical contacts to resolve test issues
  • Support test personnel with diagnostic help
  • Interface with customers to develop product design requirements and associated project labor and material cost estimates
  • Work with suppliers and technical support during phases of project development to optimize design for cost, performance, service and reliability
  • Participate in the specification, design, debug, documentation and delivery of cost-effective high-quality products to end users
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing systems and equipment
Job Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous Technical, Engineering, or Design experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical engineering or Technical Associates Degree preferred
  • Extensive experience in two-way radio applications to include IP networking, SNMP protocol and PLC equipment
  • Experience in design and implementation of Simulcast RF equipment
  • Strong understanding of digital, cable and analog electronic circuit design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of problem solving, creativity and analytical skills
  • Experience in the use of a variety of tools for design, analysis, and schematic generation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Self-directed work ethic as well as the ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrated knowledge and application of processes

Working Conditions:

Time allocated is approximately one-half office and one-half field work depending on schedules

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in adverse conditions, including inclement weather
  • Ability to reach, stand, sit and work from ladders and elevated equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift in excess of 40 lbs. for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to travel within the State of VA and surrounding area
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and be called out as needed
  • Must have acceptable driving record and submit to random drug/alcohol testing
  • Experience in the use of a variety of tools for design, analysis, and schematic generation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Self-directed work ethic as well as the ability to work in a team environment
