Junior Automotive Technician
Location:Rockville MD
FT/PT Status:Full Time
  
Job Description:
  • Performs repair work on wide variety of vehicles and equipment assigned to the vehicle maintenance shop.
  • Completes preventive maintenance by inspecting, servicing, and correcting discrepancies in accordance with maintenance policies, directives, and advisories
  • Performs repair work assigned by lead
  • Completes work order documents noting time and parts and supplies used. Verifies working order of equipment after servicing is complete
  • Responds to emergency service calls and performs roadside repair
  • Performs road tests on vehicles and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, and to ensure proper repairs were completed
  • Reports work status and special problems to lead or manager in a timely manner
  • Accurately records time, details and parts of repairs
  • Performs work as directed by lead or manager
  • Adheres to all safety procedures - OSHA, Company and Customer standards
  • Follows verbal and written instructions; meets schedule and attendance requirements; performs all physical requirements of position
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with managers, coworkers, and user departments.
Job Qualifications:
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a minimum of two years’ experience performing functions such as inspection, repair, modification or troubleshooting equipment
  • Must have one ASE certification within first 90 days of employment
  • Working knowledge of all types of motor vehicles to be able to diagnose and repair equipment
  • Use and care of required tools and equipment; Must provide own tools and rollaway box
  • Graduation from an accredited technical school, apprentice program, or verified military schooling program 
    teaching the mechanic trade
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of position
  • Basic computer skills required; Knowledge of fleet management system preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complete operational checks
  • Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of engine assemblies, clutch assemblies, brakes, drive trains, transmissions, and electrical system
  • Strong technical knowledge, excellent people skills and focus on superior customer service
  • Additional training for Hazardous Waste Accumulation, Pollution Prevention and other training related to the position may be required
  • Team player; ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English for a working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings, as per contract requirement
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of all types of motor vehicles

Work Conditions:

·       Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
·       May perform work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
·       May be periodically exposed to inclement weather conditions or other work conditions by nature.

Physical Requirements:

·       Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel and squat to perform repairs and inspections
·       Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
·       Must be able to stand for long periods
·       Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to work with small fasteners or components
